AHI Holds Internal Briefings with State Department Official, Greek Ambassador and Cypriot Ambassador

NO. 130

Washington, DC – The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) held three separate one-hour conference calls for its board of directors and staff with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Palmer and Greek Ambassador to the U.S. Ambassador Alexandra Papadopoulou on October 20, 2020 and with Cypriot Ambassador to the U.S. Ambassador Marios Lysiotis on October 22, 2020.

“We thank Deputy Assistant Secretary Palmer, Ambassador Papadopoulou and Ambassador Lysiotis for their time and for providing the opportunity for AHI to remain engaged during the pandemic on issues of concern to the Greek American community with regard to all aspects of the Eastern Mediterranean,” AHI President Nick Larigakis said.

All three briefings fielded several questions from AHI’s board members and staff.

Ross Johnson, Greece desk officer, at the U.S. Department of States joined Palmer on the on-hour off-the-record call.

Fifteen AHI board members and four AHI staff members participated on each of the calls with President Larigakis, who moderated.
