AHI Releases Second Installment of 2020 Policy Statements on Turkey’s Violations in the Eastern Mediterranean

NO. 67

WASHINGTON, DC —The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) released its second installment in a series of 2020 Policy Statements today on the topic of “Turkey’s Violations in the Eastern Mediterranean and Broader Region.”

“Turkey has demonstrated the willingness to cause instability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the broader region to the detriment of U.S. interests and in violation of the rule of law,” AHI President Nick Larigakis said. “AHI’s policy agenda will continue to press the United States to hold Turkey accountable by enacting legislation that has been introduced and advanced through Congress and by opposing foreign assistance to Turkey. We strongly urge our audience to utilize the policy statements to their full potential, educating policymakers and raising awareness of the issues to the community at-large.”

He added, “The positions presented advocate for the application of the rule of law and are in the best interests of the United States.”

Future installments of the 2020 Policy Statements will be released periodically. They will address issues affecting the Greek American community as they pertain to United States relations with countries in the Eastern Mediterranean, among other policy topics such as human rights/religious freedom and energy development in the Eastern Mediterranean.
