AHI Releases Review of the Memoirs of Greece’s First Ambassador to U.S.

WASHINGTON, DC — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) is pleased to publish a review by AHI Board Member Van Coufoudakis Ph.D. of The First Greek Ambassador to the American Federation 1867-1868—From the Memoirs of Alexandros Rizos Rangavis (Minneapolis, MN: Nostos Books, 2019), translated by Christine Gabrielides.

The book consists of an English translation of selections from the memoirs of Alexandros Rizos Rangavis, covering his service as the first ambassador of Greece to the United States. Rangavis’ memoirs consist of a massive four volume work originally published in Greek starting in the late 19th century.

Dr. Coufoudakis is Dean Emeritus of the College of Arts and Sciences, Indiana University-Purdue University; and Rector Emeritus, University of Nicosia, Nicosia, Cyprus.
