AHI Marks the 105th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide

No. 41

WASHINGTON, DC — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) has issued the following statement on April 24, 2020:

Today, we join with the Armenian community to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the start of the Armenian Genocide, a crime against humanity. We remember the 1.5 million Armenians who were systematically and deliberately annihilated by Ottoman Turkey.

The historical record on the Armenian Genocide the broader genocidal campaign perpetrated by Ottoman Turkey against Christian minorities of the Ottoman Empire is well documented.

The continued effort by present-day Turkey to deny these genocides is an affront to fundamental human rights and only serves as an obstacle to regional stability and greater regional cooperation.
