WASHINGTON, DC — On May 11, 2009, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Voulgaris, Greece’s Chief of Army, visited the American Hellenic Institute’s Hellenic House. The Lieutenant General was joined by a delegation of other army officers. They were accompanied by Brigadier General Ilias Leontaris, Defense Attaché of the Embassy of Greece in Washington, D.C.
The discussion centered around numerous topics of shared interest ranging from U.S. relations with Greece, the strategic importance of Greece to the U.S., Greece’s role in WWII, and the Greek military’s deployment in multiple areas around the world. The meeting was followed by a luncheon hosted by the AHI in honor of the delegation held at the Capital Hilton.
“We were honored to have Lieutenant General Dimitrios Voulgaris and delegation visit Hellenic House. We look forward to working with the in the Lieutenant General in the future to continue strengthening U.S. relations with Greece and pursue common goals and objectives,” said AHI Executive Director Nick Larigakis.
