Greece’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiades Varvitsiotis Visits AHI’s Hellenic House

WASHINGTON, DC—On April 28, 2009, Mr. Miltiades Varvitsiotis, Greece’s Deputy Minister of Forereign Affaris visited AHI’s Hellenic House for a working luncheon. The Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Ambassador of Greece to the U.S., Alexandros P. Mallias, Mr. Alexandros Papaioannou, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Counselor, Mr. Karolos Gadis, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of the Greek Embassy, Constantinos Alexandris, Second Secretary and Consul of the Greek Embassy, and Annita Mavromichalis, Minister-Counselor of the Greek Embassy. While at the Hellenic House the Deputy Minister met with AHI Founder Gene Rossides, AHI Executive Director Nick Larigakis, AHI Board of Directors Nick Karambelas, Esq., James L. Marketos, Esq., Professor Van Coufoudakis, Kostas Alexakis and AHI staff.  

The discussion centered around various topics ranging from strengthening U.S. relations with Greece, Greece’s role in the Middle-East, international relations between the U.S., Greece and Turkey, the FYROM name dispute, Greece’s importance as the United States’ key strategic, political and economic ally in Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.           

“We were honored to have Deputy Minister Varvitsiotis visit Hellenic House. I also appreciated very much the substantive and constructive discussion we had today. AHI looks forward to our continued relationship with the Deputy Minister to continue strengthening U.S. relations with Greece and in pursuit of common goals and objectives,” said Nick Larigakis.
