Washington, DC—On May 11, 2006, AHI sent a letter to Speaker of the House of Representatives J. Dennis Hastert, opposing arms sales to Turkey. On April 28, 2006 the Department of Defense sent notification to the Congress regarding the proposed $162 million dollar Foreign Military Sale to Turkey for 50 AGM-84K Joint Standoff Land Attack Missiles-Expanded Response (SLAM-ER) in addition to associated equipment and services.
The letter urges the Speaker of the House of Representatives J. Dennis Hastert, in the interest of the U.S. to raise objections on behalf of Congress to this impending sale of military missiles.
