American Hellenic Institute Condemns Attack on U.S. Embassy in Athens

The American Hellenic Institute strongly condemns the attack upon the U.S. Embassy in Athens on January 12, 2007. The attack thankfully resulted in no injuries and the damage to the building itself was limited, as reported by numerous press outlets.

“This recent act of violence against our Embassy in Athens is absolutely deplorable. There is no room for tolerance regarding these cowardly acts. The handful terrorists in any society will never be able to compromise the beliefs of those societies that have as their guiding principles democratic values and the rule of law,” said Gene Rossides, AHI President.

“We express our heartfelt support to the people of Greece and the Greek law enforcement authorities in their pursuit of bringing these criminals to justice. I am confident that this incident will not result in any negative fall-out in the current excellent U.S.-Greece relations,” continued Rossides.
