CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND ASK THEM TO SIGN TWO LETTERS BEING DISTRIBUTED IN CONGRESS THAT WILL BE SENT TO SECRETARY OF STATE CONDOLEEZZA RICE REGARDING TALAT’S VISIT AND ISSUES REGARDING TURKEY.

BACKGROUND:

The American Hellenic Institute would like to bring to your attention two letters that have been initiated in Congress addressed to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The two letters are the following:

  1. Letter initiated by the Hellenic Caucus co-chairs, Rep. Michael Bilirakis (R-FL) and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), regarding a formal meeting invitation by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to Mehmet Ali Talat on October 28, 2005; and
  2. Letter initiated by Rep. Jim Costa (D-CA) in regards to Turkey’s human rights record including religious freedom and the Patriarchate, blockade against Armenia, denial of Armenian Genocide, and continued occupation of Cyprus.

Please be advised that the letters will be circulating in the next two weeks among the House of Representatives to gather signatures before being sent to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Therefore, please contact your representative immediately and ask him/her to sign both of these letters.

ACTION REQUESTED—CALL, FAX, or E-MAIL:

  1. Contact your representative and ask them to sign the two letters circulating in Congress to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice by the Hellenic Caucus co-chairs, Rep. Michael Bilirakis (R-FL) and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), and Rep. Jim Costa (D-CA).
