Appoints Andonios Neroulias As President Of AHI New York Chapter
The American Hellenic
Institute (AHI) is pleased to announce the appointment of long-time
member and supporter, Col. Andonios Neroulias, U.S.A. (Ret.),
as president of AHI's Greater New York Metropolitan Chapter. AHI
welcomes the appointment of this individual who has demonstrated
outstanding leadership skills throughout his career, and a deep
commitment to the Hellenic community in the U.S.
Demonstrating his
persistent support of the organization, Col. Neroulias is one
of the founding members of the AHI Business Network, which was
initiated in 1989 to reach out to the business experience of Greek
Americans through a sharing of business information, knowledge
and contacts. His accomplishments in this capacity and as a leader
in both the business world and in the military make Col. Neroulias
ideally suited to expand the New York Chapter's membership and
to create a dynamic agenda from which all local AHI members and
the community will benefit.
For the past 20 years,
Col. Neroulias has been involved in the ownership, operational
management, leasing and sale of commercial and residential real
estate primarily in the New York Metropolitan area, as well as
in other parts of the U.S. Prior to entering the real estate business,
he worked as a linguist editor and area officer of the U.S. Foreign
Broadcast Information Service.
Upon graduation from
the City College of the City University of New York with a B.S.
degree in physics and education, he was commissioned an officer
in the US Army and served on active duty for three years. He is
a Vietnam War veteran, an honor graduate of the U.S. Army Command
and General Staff College and remained in the U.S. Army Reserve
for 27 years. Among his military awards are the Legion of Merit,
the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Combat
Infantryman Badge.
Currently, Col. Neroulias
is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, the American
Management Association, American Legion, Reserve Officers Association,
the Retired Officers Association and the Hellenic American Chamber
of Commerce where he has held various positions including that
of president. He has served on the Parish Council of the Church
of Our Saviour in Rye, New York, where he was instrumental in
transforming the Greek Language School into a multifaceted institution
of Hellenic Education.
Col. Neroulias was
born in Greece, is married to Eva Stavrinides from Cyprus.
They have two daughters, Nicole and Laura.
